The fact that the Japanese are experts in compressing the space, to fit in as many things as possible is not a secret for some time now. A glance at what they’ve done with Tokyo’s architecture is enough to understand what I mean. The most recent proof of their ingenuity when it comes to space efficiency is the design of the JAL (Japan Air Lines) Suite.

If somebody would ask me what’s the greatest invention ever then I would definitely say the “Take A Seat” because I’m very lazy. Designed by Jelte van Geest, this robotic chair follows you around thanks to an embedded RFID chip therefore when you want to sit down, “Take A Seat” is there for you.

It’s summer, it’s hot, and many struggle to fall asleep sweating in their beds. Kuchofuku is the name of the Japanese bed that drives fresh air under your body and gives you a refreshing sleep instead of periodical stirring trying to find a colder area of the bed to give you some rest for the next 15 minutes. Puur Design Studio came up with an interesting chair which is perfect anywhere, anytime as it doesn’t need too much space. It’s called Magic and as you can see, under one chair you can find another three chairs which makes it perfect for a family. The Magic chair was designed by Dripta Roy, it’s made of wood and “is what magic is all about”. It can be all yours for about €1750.

For those of you who prefer futuristic furniture, Chris Murphy designed an interesting table called “Spider Table”. The odd-looking table “works” on 2 levels and it was made of glass, silicon and metal. Those legs that the designer created for the Spider Table are really attractive and not only for geeks, as they can move up and down depending on where you want to put it or how tall you are.

The New York based Site Specific Design (SSD), an interior and furniture design company, came up with the Mimic Chair. They called it Mimic because those 30 legs which vary in lengths gives the impression of movement.

Vladimir Tsesler & Sergei Voichenko are the designers of this interesting chair concept, that looks like a lady sitting with her legs crossed. The pink color and the bulge curves bring a sensual air to it, and makes you feel like sitting in a sexy woman’s lap.

Books should be found in every home and bookshelves are perfect to keep them. Now, the problem is to find the ones that suit your interior. This problem is history as the Tangram Bookshelves consist of seven pieces that can be combined in multiple shapes. Tangram Bookshelves are designed by Lago and the idea was to create something based on the fact that “Everything changes, everything can transform itself”.
