The Hybrid Chair

The Hybrid Chair

The Hybrid chair can be used in any occasion, as it can be seen as a dining chair, an ottoman, a bench, if you line a few of them together, or as a simple stool. It has a back and a base, and the back can be mounted when you use it as a dining chair.

Hybrid Chair

Removing the back, you get an ottoman or a stool. Multiple stools aligned can form a comfortable bench of any length or design. The chair was inspired from experimentation with the simplest forms, and the designer used a light red color for the initial series.

This chair can seem almost childish through its simplicity, but remains an elegant option for most occasions. Its non-simetric lines can tip the visitors about your humorous personality, as the manufacturer amplified this characteristic just as much as he should have.

Furniture Made Of Pineapple Paper

Pineapple Bench

Yothaka International from Bangkok, Thailand, uses local natural fibrous materials to create hand-woven modern designs. The Nut Bench is one of their products, being made entirely from pineapple paper. Aside the eco-friendly material, the multitude of colors gives it a fun aspect.

The company introduced a Pineapple Paper collection, which is made entirely out of local fibrous materials. To increase the paper density, the fibers from pineapple are pressed, dyed and then made into benches, stools and chairs.

The Pixel Couch

Pixel Couch

It’s been a while now since the term of ‘pixel’ was invented, and some would have wondered how long will it take to integrate this notion into other more commonly used objects. Well, here it is: the Pixel Couch. It is a combination of rectangular-shaped colors, all combined with very good taste, smoothly passing from one shade to another.

Cristian Zuzunaga, a former student of the Royal College of Arts from England, is the designer of this pixel-looking couch that will be produced by Danish manufacturers at Kvadrat. The couch will be sold through Moroso, the famous Italian company.

Communication Inspired Dialogue-Monologue Concept

Dialogue-Monologue

Communication and harmony are just a few of the most interesting themes that were envisioned by designers. Another cool and inspiring piece of art is the Dialogue/Monologue concept which consists of two shiny red chairs. These communicative red chairs can be assembled in many ways depending on where you want to put it or in what position you would like to sit.

Being a modern concept, Dialogue/Monologue can be recycled so the environment is not and will not be affected as a sequel of its manufacturing. Check out the gallery below and feel free to be inspired by the design of Sylvain Favardin and Ludmila Korenarova.

The Akva Sound Waterbed

Akva Sound Waterbed

The Akva Sound Waterbed takes us back to the ’70s when waterbeds were very popular. Along with the floating feeling a waterbed induces when sleeping, this one has a sound system underneath the water pocket, so you can hear music while sleeping.

The sounds will be distorted by the water, and will get to your ears in a form that will lull you to sleep. A peaceful music is recommended, as I’m sure you wouldn’t want to hear some heavy metal music that will create monsters in your dreams…

Hanging Box Stairs

Hanging Stairs

Blencowe Levine Associates presented a new concept of box stairs that occupy less space and look like they are floating in the room. In these photos taken by Ioana Marinescu they lead to a roof studio from a home in Battersea, UK.

Unlike normal stairs, that require serious support underneath, these are simply hanging from the ceiling and have absolutely nothing to sustain them from below. In this case they serve their purpose very well, however I do have some doubts about their safety over a few years.

The Skew Bookcase

Skew Bookcase

Here is an interesting look of a bookcase from the Swedish designer Smansk. We are used to the regular straight horizontal type of bookcase for hundreds of years, and it was about time someone change that as technology develops new forms of art.

A prototype of the Skew bookcase was shown at the Stockholm Furniture Fair last month and it surely attracted all the looks with the pink inclined shelves and with its unusual design. We are looking forward to the moment when it will be released to the market.

The Chocolate Seat

Sciocola

Adele Rotella created this delicious looking seat to impress people worldwide by associating the image of the ultimate luxury - chocolate with a three-color seat. All three sorts of chocolate, black, white and milky found their way in the design of the seat called Sciocolà, each one having a representative segment.

Tasty Sciocola

Adele used Wengé wood to make the dark chocolate area, Rosewood for the milk zone and Ahorn wood for the white chocolate, so, along with the tasty looks, rest assured to find great quality to it too.
